Dutch Income Calculator 2026

Calculate your estimated Dutch net salary from your gross income. Enter your salary, pay period, hours, pension deductions, holiday allowance, bonus, and 30% ruling status to see a clear tax breakdown for 2026.

How the gross-to-net calculation works

The calculator applies the 2026 Box 1 income-tax brackets. The Netherlands uses two tax rates: 35.82% on income up to €38,441 and 49.50% on income above that threshold. National insurance premiums (AOW, Anw, Wlz) are included within the lower bracket.

Against the gross tax amount, two main credits are subtracted: the algemene heffingskorting (general tax credit) of up to €3,362 and the arbeidskorting (labour tax credit) of up to €5,599. Both credits phase out at higher incomes, so the effective rate rises gradually rather than in sudden jumps.

If you qualify for the 30% ruling, 30% of your salary is treated as a tax-free allowance, significantly lowering your taxable income and effective rate. The ruling applies when you meet the Dutch salary threshold (€46,107 for 2026 in most roles) and have been recruited from abroad.

What inputs does the calculator use

Gross monthly or yearly salary, employment type (employee or director), tax year (2024, 2025, or 2026), pension contribution percentage, holiday allowance toggle, bonus, 30% ruling toggle, overtime hours, and pay period (monthly, four-weekly, or weekly). The result shows net pay, effective tax rate, annual income tax, and a breakdown of each deduction line.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the Dutch salary calculator?

The calculator applies the full Dutch payroll model: Box 1 brackets, heffingskorting, arbeidskorting, pension, Gediff WGA, and the correct 30% ruling thresholds. Results match what your employer calculates, assuming a standard employment contract. Unusual CAO rules or employer-specific setups may differ slightly.

Does the income calculator include the 30% ruling?

Yes. Toggle the 30% ruling on to see the tax-free allowance applied to your income. The ruling reduces the taxable portion of your salary by 30% and adjusts the applicable credits accordingly.

Is holiday allowance (vakantiegeld) included?

Yes. Enable the holiday allowance toggle to include the 8% vakantiegeld in your monthly or annual gross. Vakantiegeld is taxed at the bijzonder tarief (special rate) in the month it is paid, typically May or June.
